Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor launches tokenization in El Salvador

The general director of Civil Protection, Luis Alonso Amaya, reported that there are no drownings recorded on public beaches nationwide. He highlighted the favorable result for the second consecutive year as a result of working together with the different relief institutions.

“Last year on public beaches absolutely none were recorded, this year neither, and, in fact, I think it is fair to say it in honor of the work done by the personnel of the aquatic rescue section of Civil Protection, of the Red Cross, Green Cross, Rescue Commands, Naval Force, Police and everything that adds up,” the official highlighted.

Amaya mourned the death of a 20-year-old man who entered a river under the influence of alcohol in the Mata de Piña community, in Jiquilisco, Usulután.

Regarding rescues, he indicated that 44 were reported, of which 31 were deep and 13 simple, which had six adults and seven minors as victims.

Regarding the road accident rate, the official detailed 524 that left 368 injured. Of the total accidents, 408 were in vehicles and 116 in motorcycles. He clarified that not all mishaps have been extremely serious, because most of these accidents have been caused by distracted driving.

«I reiterate, please, do not drive under the influence of alcohol. El Salvador continues to be a territory with zero tolerance for dangerous driving and in fact, I will tell you some data that has been recorded to date. We have had, regarding dangerous drivers, 55 people arrested, of these are 51 men and four women. Some with quite high levels of alcohol,” he noted.
