Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor launches tokenization in El Salvador

In March of this year, members of the El Salvador Navy detected a vessel stranded on the high seas. During the intervention they identified three Guatemalans who claimed to be assisting another boat, so a second boat was located.

Another group of Guatemalans was traveling on it and, presumably, coordinates were found that made it possible to locate a third boat manned by the three Ecuadorians, who would have tried to get rid of the cargo by throwing it into the sea.

However, the material was recovered in its entirety. 1,301 packages that tested positive for cocaine were seized, valued at $32,707,140.00.

Due to these events, nine subjects were captured and the Fourth Investigative Court of San Salvador sent the criminal proceedings against them to the sentencing stage, accused of the crime of illicit trafficking.

The defendants are the Ecuadorians Miguel Antonio Rodríguez Párraga, Eleuterio Mario Pincay Figueroa and Richard Daniel Mero Mero; and the Guatemalans Gandhi Otoniel Ágreda Pérez, Carlos Enrique Solares Ma, Jefferson Iván González Berríos, Esvin Rodolfo Pineda Mejía, Óscar Edgardo García Hernández and Eswin Eduardo González Berríos, who is also charged with the crime of possession and possession.

After hearing the arguments and evaluating the evidentiary offer, the court admitted the accusation, ordered the opening of a trial and ratified the precautionary measure of provisional detention for the nine defendants.
