Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor launches tokenization in El Salvador

The general secretary of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), Manuel “El Chino” Flores, attacked again this Monday against the DoctorSV application, the innovative digital health platform promoted by the Government of Nayib Bukele.

During his weekly press conference, Flores questioned the viability and purpose of DoctorSV, recently launched by Bukele to offer free 24/7 medical consultations assisted by artificial intelligence (AI).

“The DoctorSV app does not work here in El Salvador because we are not a developed country… Countries like Norway and Finland do work because they have decades-old technology,” declared the leftist leader, insinuating that the system replaces doctors with “a device” and turns the patient into a mere “customer.”

This is not the first time that Flores has criticized the initiative. Last week, he had already described DoctorSV as a step towards the “privatization” of health and a tool to “control young people,” accusing the Government of massive layoffs of specialists and of merging the Ministry of Health (Minsal) with the Salvadoran Institute of Social Security (ISSS). “What matters the least is the population,” he concluded today, generating a wave of reactions on social networks where users called him “disconnected from reality.”

DoctorSV, which already overcomes massive downloads and offers diagnoses with more than 90% accuracy thanks to AI, does not replace in-person consultations or close health units, as reiterated by the authorities. On the contrary, it complements the existing system with free services such as medications, exams and nutrition programs, benefiting more than four million Salvadorans, especially those without prior access to medical care.
