Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor launches tokenization in El Salvador

President Nayib Bukele met this Saturday with Niall Harbison, founder of the international organization Happy Doggo, with the aim of promoting an ambitious national program to rescue and care for stray dogs.

On his social networks, the president wrote: “We are creating the best national rescue program for stray dogs in the world together with Nial Harbisson,” thus confirming the alliance with the Irish activist, recognized worldwide for his humanitarian projects in favor of animals in Asia.

The meeting continues the proposal presented on October 8 by the president, who announced his intention to reduce the population of dogs and cats on the streets in a “cruelty-free” manner and with guaranteed financial resources, seeking expert allies to turn the initiative into a model for Latin America.

Niall Harbison then responded, highlighting Happy Doggo’s experience in countries such as Thailand, Bali and Sri Lanka, where it has funded the sterilization of more than 130,000 dogs in the last two years. His organization promotes the CNVR (capture, sterilization, vaccination and return) model, accompanied by education and legislative changes.

The alliance with El Salvador could become the first comprehensive animal rescue project at the national level in Latin America, combining the vision of a government committed to animal welfare and the international experience of an entity that has achieved concrete results in reducing the suffering of street animals.
