GPA Lower Austria union: Pepco insolvency raises questions – employees: once again sufferers! – 2024-03-11 21:28:50

GPA Lower Austria is available to advise those affected at any time

Vienna (OTS) The insolvency of the discounter Pepco costs over 600 employees in Austria their jobs. The GPA Lower Austria union is available to affected employees at any time and was also on site at many works meetings together with the Lower Austria Chamber of Labor to support and advise the employees. The news of the bankruptcy hit many employees hard; at the end of February, salary payments were stopped at short notice. Many of Pepco’s employees are women who have previously found it difficult to make ends meet.

The GPA Lower Austria union is therefore always available for desperate employees from Monday to Friday! At the Lower Austrian headquarters in St. Pölten at Unionsplatz 1 near the main train station, in Amstetten, in Wiener Neustadt or at the airport or also at the GPA headquarters at Alfred Dallinger Platz 1 in 1030 Vienna.

We have experienced labor law experts on site every day in St. Pölten and Vienna who are available to provide advice. We can be reached by email at [email protected] or by telephone at 050301/22000. As the GPA Lower Austria union, we can also be reached for questions via social media such as Facebook and Instagram!

In insolvency proceedings, it is particularly important to seek advice from professionals from the Chamber of Labor and the union and not to sign anything prematurely. Unfortunately, according to our information, there have already been attempts to quickly establish facts. We strongly advise against this!

The bankruptcy of the Polish discounter majority owned by the listed South African Steinhoff Group also raises questions:

“How is it possible that a company that was still talking about expansion plans in Austria in 2021 and currently wants to continue to expand in Europe suddenly files for bankruptcy? It is not the first time that employees and the general public, we as taxpayers, have to pay the bill through insolvency proceedings for the mistakes of an ice-cold company and the managers,” said the managing director of the GPA Lower Austria union, Michael Pieber.
