Government keeps in suspense the continuity of Sergio Muñoz in command of the PDI until formalization

The expectation regarding the continuity of the director of the Investigative Police, Sergio Muñoz, It will remain latent until they formalize it on Tuesday due to the possible crime of revealing a secret to the lawyer Luis Hermosilla, who resurfaced in public opinion after an audio was leaked in which he acknowledged that he was plotting a crime. This, unless during the next few days Muñoz himself presents a resignation, which would be officially informed by the Ministry of the Interior.

During this day, at around 10 a.m., police personnel arrived at Muñoz’s house and his office to search both properties simultaneously. after the Public Ministry determined that the director of the PDI had committed a crime linked to the Hermosilla Case.

“The Government wants to reiterate something that you have heard several times in press outlets like this one. The democratic Government considers that there is no one who is above the law and supports the autonomy of the powers of the State that have to carry out investigations”said the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, when expectations about Muñoz’s continuity were high.

The undersecretary added about this that “people want possible crimes to be investigated. And I continue talking about possible crimes because there is an ongoing investigation.”

Between 3 and 4 p.m., approximately, Muñoz attended the La Moneda Palace to meet with President Gabriel Boric and the Minister of the Interior Carolina Tohá. At that moment, a possible resignation of the PDI director began to be projected, however, it was not until after 6 p.m. that Monsalve communicated any determination by the Executive:
