Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSIC) has given the Handicraft Award in recognition of artisans’ work skills, quality and continuity of tradition. This year, one craftsman was awarded the Karuratna as the best craftsman and nine artists were awarded the Karugaurab award as the skilled craftsman.
Gopendra Nath Chakraborty of Jhenaidah received the Karuratna award as the best artist. He received this award for Shola art.
On Monday (June 11), Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel held a discussion meeting on BCIC’s role in the implementation of Vision 2041 and the Craft Awards 1430 ceremony.
Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was the chief guest. Zakia Sultana, senior secretary of the Ministry of Industry, was the special guest. The original article was presented by the former governor of Bangladesh Bank. Mohammad Farasuddin. BCCI Chairman Sanjay Kumar Bhowmick presided over the event.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry said that with the initiative of BCIC, the development of handicrafts of the country and the ability to compete in the international market will increase.
Farasuddin said that achieving employment and GDP growth in industrialization is essential. There is a need to identify approximately 40-42 lakh CMS entrepreneurs and establish US-style incubators in universities for phased project quality, project formulation, market survey, financing (on soft terms) efforts and domestic and international marketing and evaluation and survey under BSIC.
