Google Maps renames Hoang Sa to Hoang Sad?

Since the afternoon of June 14, the online community was surprised when on Google Maps, the name of Hoang Sa street was changed to a place related to national sovereignty.

As noted from the viral image, the name of Hoang Sa street suddenly became “Hoang Sad” on Google Maps. Try searching for related landmarks, on the street “Truong Sad” is still displayed parallel to the search street name, causing many surprises for users.

Some funny comments surrounding this were also recorded, with people named Hoang saying “the mood is not happy when there is hail in Ho Chi Minh City this afternoon”.

Notably, the Hoang Sa site belongs to Vietnam’s sovereignty in matters of sea and islands. This line is parallel to Truong Sa for the two sacred archipelagos of the nation. Therefore, changing the name to Hoang Sad caused the community to record many related opinions.
