This Monday, Juan Gabriel was honored by Google with a doodle on the main screen. This tribute is due to the fact that on July 15, 1995, the iconic Mexican composer reached first place on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart with the single “El Palo”.

This song is part of the album “The Mexico that left us”, which also received the award for Best Regional Mexican Album by the Lo Nuestro Awards in the same year.

Google decided to pay tribute to Juan Gabriel with a doodle, created by the Mexican illustrator and artist Humberto Irigoyen, art director of the Kero Collective.

Irigoyen has worked with well-known brands such as Twitch, Nickelodeon, HBO and Netflix, among others. Humberto made several illustrations of the composer that were included in a video that is available on YouTube and can also be viewed directly by clicking on the doodle.

The doodle shows in animation 2D various stages and facets of Juan Gabriel’s life and career. From her youth on stage to her foray into television, her creative process when writing songs, the affection she received from her audience at concerts, and her bright and colorful costumes.

The animation also includes the famous image of Juan Gabriel posing next to a palm tree, which became in a meme.
