The film delves into an issue that has been silenced deep within Sudanese society, its social, cultural, ethnic and even religious conflict between the people of the North and the South, and the contradictions of that life. The story begins after the crash and death of the plane of the southern leader, Garang, and six years before the historical and geographical separation, and in the house of a fanatical northern man, who believes in discrimination between people and is socially conservative . He is married to a singer, but he threatened her with divorce if she dared to sing, so it became a game of beautiful lies for her, especially when she hit a southern child and ran away, and the child’s father followed her to home, only for her husband to meet him and shoot him, killing him. Under the pretext of defending his home and his wife, the wife indulges in a good-natured lie in atonement for her husband’s actions, to look for the family who had registered the death of her breadwinner against a stranger, and to delete all her papers and documents from the police station, but she managed to get them through bribery, and the drunken policeman’s passion for her, who tried to exploit her need for hide and lied to her husband, but tied him to his limits, to include the sick family from the South in his home. The mother is a worker, and the boy sent to study in a private school, and they became friends after that she encouraged her to complete her studies, but with the collusion of lying to each other, as the southern woman suspected that all these emotions were being poured out on her, by the northern one, until she saw her husband’s papers hidden in house, but lied so that she as a child would study, and the northern house would host them, until a southern hero, political organizer and military warrior appeared in her life, who would change her and her son’s condition, just as he wanted to change the condition of the South with his secession, and we begin. In researching the husband’s condition, the facts will then come to light, the southerners will take action and vote by an overwhelming majority for the separation, so that a new life can begin for everyone, for Giulia and her bond with the southerner in difficulty, for her son who took up arms as a young man, and for the northerner’s wife who decided to give up the good lie and lie to her husband, to start the life of her love again. returning to sing, and the man from the north who was forced to apologize to the southerner, to accept his reaction and to submit to a new reality that was imposed on him, even if it concerns him, his privileges, his historical position and its geographic breadth.
The film represents a bold new addition to cinema in Sudan and the Arab world.
