Gibelé joins Orlando Pirates in South Africa

News from Angola – Angolan Delvi Miguel Vieira “Gibelé” reinforced Orlando Pirates FC on Friday, signing a three-year contract.

After two seasons (2022/23 and 2023/24) at Petro de Luanda, the Angolan forward cost the South Africans a total of 600 thousand dollars (512,177,400.00 kwanzas).

The midfielder will receive a monthly salary of 1,250 dollars (1,067,036.25 kwanzas), 10 times more than what he earned at the “catetão” club.

The player will join the team for pre-season training on July 8 (Monday) in Spain.

Gilberto “Gibelé”, 23 years old, won five titles for the three-time national champion, including two national championships (Girabola 2022/23 and 2023/24), two Angola Cups (2022/23 and 2023/24) and one Super Cup (2023).

The owner of the animation column was part of the national team in the African Nations Championship (CAN´2023) which reached the quarter-finals, held just this year, in Côte d´Ivoire.

Trained by the Aeroporto club, ASA, he also represented Real Sambila (2019/20) and Clube Recreativo do Libolo (2020/21 and 2021/2022).

At the South African club, forwards Deon Hotto (DRC), Souaibou Marou (Cameroon) and Tshegofatso Mabasa (South Africa) will be Gilberto “Gibelé”’s possible competitors in the same position.

Tshegofatso Mabasa, Deon Hotto, Tito, Thembinkosi Lorch, and B. Eva Nga, are the most prominent players in the Soweto team.
