He composed She’s like the Wind for his wife
Patrick Swayze was not only a great actor, but also a dancer. His mother, who was a professional dancer, choreographer and dance teacher, led him to dance from an early age. It is not surprising that she also educated her son in her dance school and enrolled him in ballet. Patrick Swayze danced professionally, including on Broadway, where he impressed as Danny in the musical Pomade. Later, he also applied himself as an actor – he started in television series and eventually graduated in acting. Although he experienced his first acting success already in the series North and South (1985–1986), he became most famous only in Hříšný tanec from 1987, in which he played at the age of thirty-four.

And as it turned out, the incredibly talented Patrick Swayze could not only act and dance, but also sing, as he already demonstrated in musicals on Broadway. For the film Dirty dancing, he composed and sang his own song She’s like the Wind, which immediately became a hit. The inspiration for this song was his beloved wife Lisa Niemi. After the film Sinful Dance, which won many awards, Patrick’s further acting successes did not take long.
Ghost as the most romantic movie of all time
One of the other very successful films was Ghost from 1990, where Patrick Swayze starred alongside Demi Moore. Again, this film moved the audience for a long time and, like Sinful Dance, won many awards. It is rightfully one of the most romantic films of all time. Just a year later, Patrick starred in the film Tipping Point, where he played an adventurer, a surfer named Bodhi, another year later, a doctor Max in the City of Joy, who helps people in Calcutta, India. In 2001, he starred in the award-winning film Donnie Darko and went on to appear in leading roles in many crime films and dramas.
An interesting historical crime drama was, for example, the film Death in the Mountains from 2008, we can mention another crime film – Road house (1989), where he demonstrated his knowledge of martial arts, Next of kin (1989), Hříšný tigr (1988), Letters from a murderer ( 1998), Black Dog (1998), drama Three Wishes (1995) or Green Dragon (2001). Because Patrick Swayze was more of an actor for the serious roles of heroes and passionate lovers of women or dancers, he played comedic roles to a much lesser extent. But you may know him from the comedies Universal Cleaner (2005) or Badass Dad from 1993, where he still played a tough guy and a badass dad, who eventually straightens up.
Patrick Swayze’s Last Dance
As far as other dance movies go, none of them have surpassed Sinful Dance. The second installment of Sinful Dance in 2004 gave young people a chance and Patrick Swayze appeared there in his role as Johny, but this film was no longer such a success. Even the 2003 dance film The Last Dance, in which Patrick starred with his wife Lisa Niemi, who directed the film, did not achieve the expected success, although their joint play Without a Word, on which the film was based, was highly praised. However, dance lovers will still find their way into this film and it may move them to tears.
The love of Patrick and his wife Lisa lasted for thirty-four years until his death, they married in 1975, taught dance together, also engaged in construction and breeding of horses, dogs and bulls for rodeo. They had no children. Patrick was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008, and despite new medical procedures, he went to acting heaven within a year. He died at the age of 57, like his father, who, like Patrick, was involved in rodeo and construction.
