The Military Academy or Akmil is an official educational institution under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan). Graduates can be appointed as TNI Army officers when they complete their education.

Quoting the official website, Akmil has the main task of producing competent cadets who are prepared to later become TNI AD officers. The length of education can last for four years.

After completing education at the Military Academy, graduates are usually given the rank of Second Lieutenant. Next, they will be placed in various TNI Army units throughout Indonesia.
