JAKARTA – The government plans to re-regulate the criteria for users of subsidized diesel fuel. This is done so that subsidized diesel is right on target.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif admitted that the current government is still studying this matter by considering several things such as world oil prices and subsidy and compensation budgets.

“We are currently reviewing it, especially those related to world oil prices. Then also demand, and the state’s ability to provide subsidy support and compensation,” he said when met at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Migas), Jakarta, Friday (2/8/2024).

For information, solar consumers themselves have actually been regulated in Presidential Decree 191 of 2014 concerning the Provision, Distribution and Retail Selling Price of Fuel Oil. In the attachment to the Presidential Decree, it is written that solar is intended for micro businesses, fisheries businesses, agricultural businesses, transportation, and public services.

However, until now, the process of revising the Presidential Decree has not been completed because the government also plans to regulate Pertalite users.

Therefore, Arifin emphasized that later the government will also regulate consumers of subsidized diesel through a revision of the Presidential Decree.

“Yes, we will pass it through the Presidential Decree,” he stressed.
