German Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economy Robert Habeck started an unannounced visit to Kyiv on April 18. This was reported by “Interfax” agency.

Upon arrival, he stated that this visit was not of a private or emergency nature and that Germany would support Ukraine as much as needed.

This is Habek’s second visit to Ukraine since the start of military operations by Russia in February 2022. On April 18, a delegation of business representatives arrived together with the vice chancellor.

The topics of the talks in Kyiv are the state of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, emergency aid, strengthening the economy, economic relations between Germany and Ukraine.

It is noted that, according to the Bild publication, Helmut Rauch, the executive director of Diehl Defense Company, arrived with Habek. This company produces IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile systems. Rauch told Bild that three of these anti-aircraft missile systems are already in Ukraine, and “further deliveries will come this year.” the next installation will arrive in a few weeks.

Among the topics of discussion are the future of Ukraine after the crisis. The next conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine is to be held in mid-June in Berlin.
