In La Libertad, the “Doctor at your home” program focuses on closing the gaps in specialized care in the most remote areas
From the June 4ththanks to the program «Doctor at your home»the Regional Health Management (Geresa) of La Libertad has provided free care to 57,500 personas in the 12 coastal and mountain provinces of the department.
According to Geresa, 35 health teams are carrying out home visits in all neighborhoods, towns, population centers and hamlets to identify people who require specialized care.
This preventive approach seeks to maintain people’s health, avoiding waiting until they are sick and need to go to a health center.
He indicated that a team of 170 health professionalsincluding doctors, obstetricians, nurses, nursing technicians, nutritionists, medical technologists and laboratory technicians, travels throughout the region to improve care coverage and assess the health status of the population.

The program “Doctor at your home» is being very well received by the population. This initiative seeks democratize and modernize regional health policy to address to some extent the shortage of health personnel and the lack of care in remote areas where patients reside.
The administration of the Governor Cesar Acuña will allocate a budget of 7 million soles to promote this strategy, mainly aimed at the recruitment of health personnel.
The services provided by the brigades include: early detection of anemia and supplementation in children, vaccination for all agescare of common childhood illnesses, monitoring of pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy, promotion of breastfeeding, advice on healthy eating practicess, reproductive and family health care, as well as counseling on good hygiene practices.
