The most important state-certified environmental seal in Austria confirms high standards in the area of sustainability.

Vienna (OTS) The Generali company restaurant at the Landskrongasse location in Vienna’s city center has received the Austrian Ecolabel from the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology for its high environmental standards. The award confirms Generali’s high standards in energy efficiency, resource conservation, promotion of biodiversity and the regional economy.

Thomas Steininger, Managing Director of Generali Company Restaurants, is pleased about the most important state-certified environmental seal in Austria: “The Generali company restaurants practice sustainability in all areas: in the use of food and energy, in waste management and through the use of regional and seasonal products. We are very pleased that with the recognition of the eco-label we can also demonstrate our high quality and environmentally friendly company policy to the outside world.”

At the awards ceremony, Leonore Gewessler, Federal Minister for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, thanked the award-winning companies for the many small and large steps they are taking. Driven by the conviction to do something better, these are steps that show every day how you can pay attention to resources and at the same time manage your business well.

Promote climate protection with Veggie Days

The Generali company restaurant gives preference to environmentally friendly, organic, fair trade or regional products. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are also available on the menu every day. The eco-label in the tourism and catering category is also characterized by sustainable initiatives such as the use of reusable dishes and bottles, free provision of tap water and environmentally friendly disposal of waste. The appropriate portion size is an important step in avoiding waste. In addition to the quality management of the food, the return flow is also monitored and evaluated.

With regular Veggie Days, where only vegetarian and vegan dishes are offered, Generali is setting an additional example for climate protection in its company restaurants. Many studies show that plant-based eating patterns are associated with lower resource consumption and lower environmental impact. For employees, the Veggie Days not only offer the opportunity to discover new meat-free dishes, they also promote awareness of sustainable nutrition and environmental responsibility with accompanying information.
