Gaurav Gill and his New Zealand-based co-driver, Jared Hudson, were driving a Hyundai i20 N Rally2 car when, at the 7.2 km mark in Special Stage 11 (SS11), the car hit a pothole, causing suspension problems. . Despite their efforts to fix the car, both were forced to withdraw from the race. Apart from this technical failure, Gill performed strongly throughout the rally, showing his dedication to the game.
The Otago Rally is one of the world’s most historic rally events and has been held annually since 1976. This year, 117 cars have participated in the rally, the largest in four years. A traditional mix of challenging sections includes the 16 special stages that make up the rally. The stages include fast, flowing open public roads, blind brows and gravel-strewn sections, offering a unique challenge.
