Gauck criticizes Scholz. These are weapons for Ukraine

Former President of the Federal Republic of Germany Joachim Gauck spares no criticism of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

– Faced with devastating trench warfare and shameful air attacks against the Ukrainian civilian population, I look with concern at our actions and ask myself whether our support is enough, said former German President Joachim Gauck in an interview for the Bild am Sonntag newspaper.

Former German President: I can’t understand it

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz still refuses to send Taurus cruise missiles, the German equivalent of Britain’s Storm Shadows, to Ukraine, fearing they will be used to attack the Crimean bridge. Berlin is resisting pressure from Britain and Ukraine to hand over the missiles, despite assurances from London that they will only be launched against targets approved by Germany.

The Taurus is one of the most modern missiles available to the Air Force. This weapon can find a target from great heights and distances and destroy, for example, bunker systems.

– I know nothing about military matters, but I have spoken to people who have the necessary military knowledge. After these talks, I no longer understand why we hesitate to supply Ukraine with these weapons and other ammunition, Joachim Gauck said in an interview with the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. – We must do it using everything we have available, without “buts”. Because a Russian victory in the future would also put the security of other European countries at risk, he added.

– Chancellor Scholz must ask himself from time to time whether he is falling short of his stated goal of doing everything in his power to prevent Russia from winning and imposing a “peaceful” dictatorship. It is galling that the government’s hesitations not only reduce Ukraine’s chances of victory, but also increase the threat to the entire free world, the former president of the Federal Republic of Germany said.
