Gasoline / Unleaded has caught fire – More than 2 euros even in the center of Athens

The price of unleaded oil is maintained at high levels, which in several cases has exceeded 2 euros per liter, while the international price of crude oil is still under pressure, foreshadowing permanent price increases.

Now the average nationwide price of unleaded oil (Observatory of Liquid Fuel Prices – 31/3) has reached 1,942 euros per liter, having gained 9 cents per liter in the last two months, while its course has been continuously upward since March 1 (1,903 euros / liter) and then.

However, at the level of average prices per prefecture, the limit of 2 euros has already been broken for a few weeks, with the Cyclades (2,162 euros) and the Dodecanese (2,097 euros) leading the way, as usual, in accuracy. But close by are three other prefectures that broke the 2 euro barrier, namely Kefallinia (2,021 euro), Evrytania and Lefkada (2,013 euro each), while very close are the prefectures of Rethymno (1,998 euro), Lesvos (1,997 euro), Fokido (1,996 euros), Corfu (1,988 euros), Heraklion (1,982 euros) and Lasithi (1,980 euros). The most extreme prices are recorded on islands such as Milos (2,360 euros), Patmos (2,350 euros), Kythnos (2,291 euros), etc.

However, prices at the pump that exceed 2 euros / liter are now appearing in the Prefecture of Attica, even in areas of the center.

If the rally in petrol prices continues this month, another particularly expensive Easter is predicted, with households even worrying about the cost of a trip to the village.

Further international pressures

In diesel and heating oils, increases are also recorded, but these are milder and pass through the pump at a slower rate than the increase in unleaded. The average national price of diesel reaches 1,707 euros / liter, affecting mainly professionals in the primary sector but also small and medium-sized enterprises. The corresponding price for heating oil amounts to 1,328 euros / liter and probably only concerns the northernmost regions of the country, while, as is known, its availability for the winter season ends on April 30.

In the meantime, fears are expressed about pressures on the price of diesel fuel in the near future, as a daily decrease in diesel exports from the west of Russia is expected, as a result of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian refineries and due to scheduled maintenance. Analysts and experts are talking about a development that will possibly have an impact on global markets and fuel supply, pushing up prices as well.

At the same time, in the last week of March, the international price of Brent oil climbed up to 87.5 dollars per barrel, while yesterday it reached 87.43 dollars for a moment, when at the beginning of February it was even below 80 dollars.
