Circles of the domestic market attribute the rise in prices to global developments, estimating that as long as geopolitical uncertainty and pressures on oil stock prices intensify, fuel costs will not deescalate.

New increases are also expected at the beginning of next week, as wholesale fuel price increases are foreseen, which with the new orders will also be seen at the pump. It is noted that the latest jump in the price of Brent oil has not yet passed through to domestic retail.

However, our country returned to third (from fourth) position among EU countries. with the most expensive unleaded, according to the data of the Commission.

Oil rally

Meanwhile, since Thursday the price of Brent has soared, as it exceeded 91 dollars a barrel for the first time since last October, recording an almost six-month high. From the beginning of this year until today, the price of Brent has increased by 20%.

The new pressures are mainly attributed to OPEC+ production cuts, strong demand and heightened geopolitical risks.

The new jump in oil futures is linked to tensions in the Middle East, which are escalating as Iran threatens attacks on Israeli diplomats, and Russian refineries, which are counting losses in capacity after the Ukrainian drone attacks, while OPEC+ it is not changing its line by continuing to cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day until the end of June.
