Gang rape did not happen in Ayodhya's Ram temple, false claim goes viral

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Seven people have been arrested and sent to jail on charges of gang rape of a girl in Ayodhya. Now some users on social media are claiming that this crime took place inside the Ram temple. Targeting the UP government and Ram temple on different social media platforms, it is being claimed that a girl was gang raped inside the Ram temple.

Our investigation revealed that a young woman had filed a case of gang rape in Ayodhya’s Cantt police station. According to this young woman, she works as a cleaner in Ram Mandir. An FIR was filed on September 2. It stated that when the young woman went to meet her former friend at different places on different dates, her friend and his companions gang raped her. Seven people have been arrested and sent to jail in this case.

Facebook user Santosh Kumar Nishad In one of his posts on September 16, he claimed, “Girls are not safe in Ram’s house. They pretend to burn Ravana. The name of the accused has been kept confidential. Gang rape happened in the temple. It was a Dalit girl, so blind devotees are silent.”

Vishvas News first created keywords based on the viral claim to investigate the viral post. Then searched it through Google Open Search Tool. We found news related to the incident on many news websites. On September 15, 2024, Haribhoomi News website quoted Ayodhya Police in its news, “The victim alleges that the accused, Vansh Chaudhary, a resident of Sahadatganj, Ayodhya, lured her by promising to take her for a walk. According to the victim, this promise of Vansh was an excuse to exploit her. The victim told that she was kidnapped on August 25 while going to the temple. Vansh, Udit Kumar, Satram Chaudhary and two unidentified persons raped her inside the car. Then their car collided with a divider at a turn, giving the victim a chance to escape.” Related news Here Can be read.

During the search, a news was also found on Aaj Tak’s website. There was no mention of gang rape in Ram Mandir anywhere in this news of 14th September. It was told in the news that an FIR of gang rape was lodged in Cantt police station on 2nd September. The Dalit girl alleged that her friend and his companions raped her. Full news Here Read.

Cantt Police Station in-charge Amarendra Singh told Vishvas News that the claim that the incident happened in the Ram Mandir campus is completely baseless. All the places where the girl had talked about gang rape are very far from the Ram Mandir. An FIR has been registered in this case and all the seven accused have been sent to jail.

During the investigation, Vishvas News also contacted Ramsharan Awasthi, in-charge of Dainik Jagran, Ayodhya. He also told about the viral post that the name of Ram temple is being wrongly linked to this incident. No such incident has happened in Ram temple. The viral post is wrong.

At the end of the investigation, the user who posted the viral post was investigated. It was found that more than six thousand people follow the user. The user is a resident of Rampur in UP.

Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation proved the claim of gang rape in Ram Mandir to be baseless. A girl in Ayodhya had accused her friend and his friends of gang rape. After which seven accused have been sent to jail. No such incident has taken place in the Ram Mandir campus.
