Most of us in the gaming industry have already announced the winners of Game of the Year 2023. As usual, this has led many people to accuse us of bad taste and ignorance about what makes a great game. Fortunately, most people who have these exceptional experiences seem to agree with us.
The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has announced the nominees for the 27th annual DICE Awards. If you didn’t know, it’s an annual gaming award for members of a non-profit organization that essentially serves as the protector and common denominator of the gaming industry. Most of the publishers and developers you know, large and small, are members, so the DICE Awards are more aptly compared to the Academy Awards (aka Academy Awards) than Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards show. That’s why it’s always interesting to see how their lists differ from ours. This includes giving Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 more credit than just one remake and remembering how much praise Hogwarts Legacy received as of early 2023.
