Galán’s message to the city of Cali for hosting COP 16

The National Government announced that COP 16 has already taken place and it will be Cali, which will host more than 12 thousand people from all the countries of the world, to discuss and make decisions in relation to the world’s biodiversity.

This is one of the most important events for environmental protection on the planet, and for this new edition it will be held in Colombia, thanks to the management of the Minister of the Environment Susana Muhamad. Bogotá and Cali had been chosen as the finalists to host this event; However, ‘The branch of heaven’ won the fight in the Colombian capital.

As President Petro explained, when choosing the city, not only human and cultural diversity was taken into account but, due to the nature of the event, natural diversity. A characteristic that more than fills the Colombian Pacific and, for this reason, Cali will be the city where this important event takes place.

“We are leaning towards the most biodiverse region of Colombia, it is called the Colombian Pacific. With black people, indigenous peoples, with mulattoes, with mestizos, with whites, with all ethnicities,” said President Petro.
