A female jail guard including the head jailer has been immediately transferred (stand release) on the charge of torturing a female prisoner in Gaibandha District Jail.
On Thursday (April 18) night Rangpur Division, Headquarters and Rangpur Jail Deputy Inspector General Md. The matter was informed in a separate office order in a letter signed by Tauhidul Islam.
District Jail Chief Warden Ashraful Islam and Jail Warden Shabana Begum have been transferred.
Ashraful Islam has been transferred to Dinajpur District Jail and Shabana Begum to Thakurgaon District Jail. They have been directed to join the transfer jail within 24 hours.
Gaibandha District Jail Superintendent Javed Mehdi confirmed the transfer.

The mother of the victim filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday (April 16) seeking the punishment of the accused in this incident.
The female prisoner who complained of torture is a resident of Dinajpur’s Birganj. He is accused of drug case of Gobindganj police station. He has been imprisoned in Gaibandha District Jail for almost five years.
Gaibandha District Commissioner Kazi Nahid Rasul said that the incident has been investigated by the district administration. But the report is not yet available. Necessary action will be taken after receiving the investigation report.
