Future Professions and Women Entrepreneurs Mini Summit Held in Samsun

Academicians and successful names of the business world were brought together with citizens at the ‘Future Professions and Women Entrepreneurs Mini Summit’ organized by Samsun’s Atakum Municipality.

Academicians and successful names of the business world were guests in the organization, which was the last of the mini summits held in Eskişehir, Izmir and Gaziantep within the scope of the project, carried out by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality with the support of the European Union. Experts gave important information about sectors with increasing employment needs in the face of rapidly changing world economy and digitalization, women’s entrepreneurship and employment opportunities of the future.

“We are struggling to make Atakum a tourism city, not an industrial city”

Atakum Deputy Mayor Suat Yıldız, in his speech at the program, said, “Atakum is a district that reaches a population of 350-400 thousand in the summer months, employs 300 thousand people in the winter, but appears to be 250 thousand or even 247 thousand in the population records. In this respect, it is a district of the Black Sea and even of Turkey.” Atakum is not an industrial city, nor has it become a tourism city. We are struggling to make Atakum not an industrial city but a tourism city. Atakum is a city with a population of 30 thousand people with the highest level of education in the Black Sea region. Apart from its own employment, Atakum is also full of young people from all over Turkey who come to study at universities and want to continue their lives here when they graduate. The issue that comes to my mind the most is unemployment projects. Currently, the number of job applications from university-educated young people coming to us is as high as 3 thousand. When doing a job in a sector, it is necessary to provide employment and training areas from workers, technicians, engineers to intermediate staff. “I believe that the Future Professions and Women Entrepreneurs Summit and similar projects will make a great contribution to this issue,” she said.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Projects Branch Manager Ömer Faruk Sarı gave information about the project at the summit he moderated and said, “The professions of the future and the areas in which people need to better equip themselves are constantly changing. Our youth, families and all individuals need to be ready for this change. In the past, university graduates “While it was a sufficient concept, now there is a need for people to transform themselves and direct their work accordingly,” he said.

“There is high demand from farmers”

Başak Demir, Founding General Manager of Helimore Aviation, gave information about the production of agricultural unmanned aerial vehicles with domestic production software, which they implemented in the program, and the areas where unmanned aerial vehicles are used. In his speech, Demir said, “We realized that there is a huge gap in agriculture and that there is a market share of 34 billion dollars in the market. We quickly entered this sector. The ecosystem is growing, there is intense demand from farmers in the agricultural sector. Apart from agriculture, we carry out work in the search and rescue sector.”

Ondokuzmayıs University (OMÜ) Graphics Department Lecturer Dr. Ayşe İri Öztürk pointed out that brands need to convey the right message to the target audience in order to hold on to the market and said, “In order for a brand to gain a place in the market and maintain its market share, it must tell the stories behind it to consumers. ‘How was this brand born, what is the brand difference, what is the brand difference? What does he want to say?’ “It is necessary for a brand to share all these in accordance with its mission. Moreover, it is very valuable for a brand to always be honest, open to communication and interact with the consumer,” he said.
