According to the Miami Herald, Dave Chappelle, 50, was playing the second night of a five-night show at the 7,000-seat venue when the accident occurred Wednesday night.
The “Half Baked” actor alerted security before berating the audience and leaving the stage, shaking his head in disappointment, the paper added.
According to the Hard Rock Live website, the venue’s policy is: “No electronic devices, at the request of the artist.”
This means that anything that could be used to record Mr. Chappelle’s performance would have to be out of sight for the duration of the show.
Viewers should leave their electronic devices, such as cell phones, smart watches and cameras in Yondr cases to prevent noisy guests from recording the show.
Mr. Chappelle did not speak about the incident, but some fans expressed frustration with the viewer’s rude behavior.
“Few things make you more misanthropic than going to the theater. I saw Dave Chappelle at the Hard Rock tonight and he (rightfully) dropped the mic and ran off stage. My favorite comedian, the first time I saw him I was so excited,” lamented one admirer on X.
“Some f***ing d*** took out his phone during the #DaveChappelle show at the Hard Rock in Hollywood,” another angry fan wrote.
