Friday February 16, 2024 in the Wawata-Zounta district, district of Yokpo in the commune of Zè (Atlantic Department), Modeste Tihounté KÉRÉKOU Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Promotion of Employment proceeded to the inauguration of the semi-industrial pineapple juice production unit of the company “BIO PHARM”.
The establishment of this fruit juice production unit was possible thanks to financial support amounting to approximately 145 million FCFA in favor of “BIO PHARM”,
This financial support was the culmination of a transparent process, part of the partnership between the Government of Benin and the American Foundation for Development in Africa (USADF-GOB) with technical support from APIC.
According to gouv.bj, the fruit juice production unit has allowed Bio Pharm, in a short time, to considerably increase its production capacity and explore new sales markets internationally.
After congratulating the promoter of Bio Pharm and her entire team for their efforts, Minister Modeste KÉRÉKOU recalled that the Government is ready to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) determined to grow. “ The Government stands ready to support all MSMEs that do not appear, but want to move forward, as the USADF-GOB fund is immediately available ».
As a reminder, the envelope intended for the promotion of MSMEs in the agricultural sector within the framework of the USADF-GOB partnership amounts to 1 billion FCFA each year. In this regard, Paul OLSON, Senior Advisor and representative of the Regional Director of the USADF, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to continuing financial support to deserving agricultural MSMEs for their full development.
It should be noted that the Minister urges KEREKOU especially urged the Bio Pharm company to recruit more staff and to ensure that the quality standard of its products is maintained high. Because for him, “ for products to be accepted on international markets, the quality must be there, meeting international standards ».
