In the presence of diplomatic, academic and scientific figures, the Democratic Forces Front party hosted, this evening, Tuesday, a ceremony for the signing of a new book by the Algerian opposition journalist and political activist, Anwar Malek, under the title: “The Polisario and Iran: Secrets of Terrorism from Tehran to Tindouf,” a work that came to break a long silence around one of the most sensitive files in the region, which is the relationship of the “mullahs’ regime” in Tehran with the Polisario militias. Associated with the “generals regime” in Algeria.
This book, which includes more than 600 pages, came to shed light on a new map of the dark and suspicious alliances that began to form in North Africa not a long time ago, raising the curtain on unprecedented documents and testimonies that put before public opinion a clear picture of the extent of Iranian penetration into Algeria and its presence in the Tindouf camps through its security services and militias affiliated with it. This is the presence that Morocco had previously warned about, and it was the reason for severing its relations with the regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Mustapha Benali, Secretary-General of the Democratic Forces Front party, said, “Hosting this event stems from what His Majesty King Mohammed VI seeks in his extended hand speech and in his policy that frames what Morocco seeks in its relations with its Maghreb brothers, especially Algeria.”
Benali added, in a speech during this meeting, that “from the standpoint of seeking objectivity and without hostility and without falling into the logic of reaction, it was necessary for us to address the obstacles that hinder unity and the Maghreb Union and the efforts that are trying hard to sustain tension in the region, especially around the Moroccan Sahara.”
He added, “The Democratic Forces Front party seeks to make such meetings a space for dialogue and raise the problems facing Maghreb unity to the level of real, frank political discussion. Therefore, we worked earlier to raise a discussion about Morocco’s relations with its neighbors in light of Iranian penetration into North Africa,” stressing that “we consider this penetration a real threat to the entire region, especially in light of what is happening in the Sahel region south of the Sahara.”
The same party official stated that “the continuation of the regional conflict over the Moroccan Sahara doubles the risks facing the region and impedes its people’s quest for unity, stability and development. Perhaps the international organization’s understanding of the essence of this artificial conflict is what made it triumph for the Moroccan Sahara through the recent Security Council resolution, which set the framework for ending this conflict and also championed the solution that His Majesty King Mohammed VI spoke about, that is, the solution in which there is no winner or loser.”
In a statement to the electronic newspaper Hespress, the Algerian opposition writer and activist confirmed that “the book that is the subject of the meeting is the first of its kind, as it is the first book devoted to the nature of Iranian relations with the Polisario Front, and through them with the Algerian regime,” noting that “the importance of this work is that it talked about many details and includes many information that has not been published before.”
Malek explained, “The author addresses aspects of the relationship between Tehran and the ruling regime in Algeria, and also the relations of the Polisario with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the Quds Force, and the Lebanese Hezbollah, as it includes data that had not previously been revealed, including dialogues and meetings with Algerian generals who spoke about the reality of the Tindouf camps and what was happening in them, and also a meeting with the wife of former Algerian president Houari Boumediene, who revealed what was going on behind the scenes and how Boumediene imagined it.” Polisario and the issue of the conflict over the Sahara.
The same spokesman pointed out that “this work also includes intelligence documents that highlight the nature of the relationship that linked the Polisario militias with the militias of the Assad regime and Iran, where a document was revealed for the first time about the confession of Ibrahim Ghali, who was then the so-called (ambassador) of the Front in Algeria. This document was subject to the killing of Polisario members in the Battle of Qusayr in Syria in 2012, before the Front presented their obituary considering that they were killed following battles with the Moroccan army.”
The Algerian opposition writer stated that “there are also documents that expose the receipt of a bribe by the Syrian regime by a leader in the separatist front, named Muhammad Yaslam Basit, stressing that “the importance of this book is that it revealed what was hidden with boldness and courage and in purely academic language, far from any prejudices. The truth that I reached as a specialist in Iranian affairs is that the Polisario has become, in deed and word, just an Iranian militia that poses a primary threat to Algeria, because its guns that were directed against Morocco could also be directed at Algeria.”
