A 23-year-old man from Mendoza was arrested in Argentina after being identified as the alleged creator of the website Free Football.
The website was intended to violate the digital security of the owners of the rights to broadcast football matches. The website displayed the different channels for “free” sporting events National and international.
The search for the creator of the pirate website began after a company that acquired the broadcast rights from a tournament would report it.

According to Argentine media outlet TN, the prosecutor in the case, Alejandro Musso, from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Unit for Cybercrime Investigations, said that “about four or five months ago a large programming company, which has the digital rights to soccer here in Argentina, reported that their signal was being stolen and was being reproduced for free, which is not so free, to the entire country,” said the official in conversation with Rock And Pop.
The creator of Fútbol Libre was arrested on Wednesday, July 10 in Mendoza, and was later transferred to Buenos Aires.
He is being investigated for accessing company servers and stealing the signal to retransmit it, which constitutes audiovisual piracy.
