It’s official. Franck Rakotomanana submitted his candidacy for the position of president of the Malagasy Taekwondo Federation WT (FMTKD) yesterday.
The current president of the Analamanga taekwondo league and recently reappointed to his position, Franck Tiana Rakotomanana, has decided to run for the presidency of the Malagasy Taekwondo Federation WT (Fmtkd). Yesterday, he officially submitted his candidacy to the administrative headquarters of the Federation in Amboniloha Ivandry. The election will take place on April 16 at the headquarters of the Malagasy Olympic Committee. Franck Rakotomanana expressed his intention to run as a candidate with the aim of raising the level of taekwondo in Madagascar, emphasizing the need to revitalize the discipline in the country. “ The last time Madagascar won an international competition was in 2015 thanks to Rija at the African Games in Gabon. Lately we have also experienced difficulties on the international scene due to the low level of taekwondo in Madagascar “, did he declare. He also criticized the absence of the current president of the Fmtkd, Christian Ramanantsoa, who resides outside the country and seems disconnected from the reality on the ground.
Concerning the electoral procedure, this presents a particularity compared to previous elections. The candidatures were submitted before the date of the election, an exceptional measure given that the Independent National Electoral Commission will be constituted on the day of the election. “ Despite the fact that the CENI has not yet been formed, I submitted my candidacy to the federation, and not to the CENI which will be in charge of the election. This demonstrates our good preparation and our compliance with the submission deadline imposed by the federation “, he added. The deadline for submitting applications for the position of president of the Malagasy Taekwondo Federation WT is April 7. Nine regional leagues (Analamanga, Antsinanana, Vakinankaratra, Haute Matsiatra, V7V, Betsiboka, Boeny, Atsimo Andrefana, Alaotra Mangoro) affiliated with the Federation will participate in the election of Christian Ramanantsoa’s successor. This election will take place in accordance with the statutes and internal regulations of the national body. After the election, the new president will renew the members of the executive office.
