France should apologize for this – 2024-08-01 11:00:43 – 2024-08-01 11:00:44 – 2024-08-01 11:03:19

The French side should apologize.

Publika.az reports that the head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykhan Hajizade, said this in response to the local media’s question about the French Minister of Interior Gerald Darmanan calling Azerbaijan a dictatorship.

He said that such opinions voiced by France against Azerbaijan are completely unacceptable and were firmly rejected by official Baku.

“Unlike France, where human rights are grossly violated, protesters are killed during riots, Islamophobia and attacks against Muslims, as well as anti-Semitism are widespread, fundamental rights and freedoms are fully guaranteed in Azerbaijan. Ever since Azerbaijan regained its independence, as a society loyal to democratic values, Azerbaijan is a country where people of different ethnicities and religions live in friendly and safe conditions.

A. Hajizade stressed that if France does not apologize, it will lead to more negative effects on Azerbaijan-France relations:

“The French side should apologize for this statement. Otherwise, it will lead to more negative effects on Azerbaijan-France relations.”

It should be noted that in an interview with “France 2” TV channel, French Minister of Interior Gerard Darmanin accused Azerbaijan of interfering in the riots in New Caledonia and interfering in the internal affairs of his country.
