France before the European elections

In the European elections on June 9, 2024, the French will elect 81 MEPs who will represent them in the European Parliament until 2028. The pre-election period unfolds in an atmosphere of sad passions and anxiety about the upcoming Olympics: regional conflicts on the European borders divide voters both on the intervention or non-intervention of France, and as to which of the contending sides should be favored. Euroscepticism, in fact the Euro-jeremiads, of some parties and about 50% of citizens, is nothing new: anti-European propaganda and the inability of Europeanists to strengthen our European consciousness and identity have created the well-known mythology around the ” bureaucracy’ of the EU, ‘slowness’, ‘flattening national traditions’ and ‘unprincipled compromises’. But the Eurosceptics are not resting anywhere: if you are European, and this is proven by geography itself, you cannot be a “Eurosceptic”; just as if you are French you cannot be a “Francoskeptic”.
