“If the managing director of the European Food Authority Bernhard Url said succinctly in an interview in the Ö1-Morgenjournal that only abstinence from meat and the use of insects in food and artificial meat can feed the world, then he has not understood his job !”, reacted today the liberal consumer protection spokesman NAbg. Peter Worm.
If Europeans also talk about a vegan diet, one has to question where all the plant-based food comes from? “The so-called ‘superfoods’ are already being flown into Europe from all over the world or are being transported by truck from the south of the continent to the north, and the environment is then knowingly ignored, as is the case with electric cars. The clearing of forests in South America or Asia would be another consequence of these green fantasies,” emphasized Wurm.
The task of the EFSA and its director Url is not to restrict the way Europeans live and eat, but rather to ensure that our food is and remains safe. “If Url thinks that insects and artificial meat will be unavoidable on our plates, then I advise him that he should eat his maggots and worms himself,” demanded the FPÖ consumer protection spokesman, who added that consumer protection also means protecting our diet include.
