“Quote zero” blockade by the ÖVP Interior Minister is illegal
Vienna (OTS) – As part of the annual consultation of the federal states on family reunification, the Lower Austrian FPÖ Asylum Councilor Dr. Christoph Luisser has a clear line: “We are setting the family reunification quota to zero!” This positioning of the Freedom Party in Lower Austria is based on the legal procedure, according to which ÖVP Interior Minister Karner must involve the federal states before presenting the settlement ordinance.
Despite this clear requirement, Lower Austria’s rights were ignored, said Luisser: “ÖVP Interior Minister Karner has not yet brought together a new settlement regulation. This means that family reunifications are forced every month, which clearly contradicts the interests of Lower Austria.”
For the liberal Secretary General NAbg. Michael Schnedlitz and FPÖ State Councilor Luisser said this approach constituted a violation of applicable law. FPÖ General Secretary Schnedlitz had also submitted a parliamentary question about this. “ÖVP Interior Minister Karner is legally obliged to take the interests of Lower Austria into account. Everything else is illegal,” said Schnedlitz, who urged compliance with applicable law: “ÖVP Interior Minister Karner is not allowed to continue to act in a legal vacuum! The laws also apply to the black Ministry of the Interior. The minister must not continue to bend the law just because he wants to organize immigration through the back door.”
“The citizens do not want illegal migration into our country and for this reason we will continue to campaign for a zero family reunification quota, whether ÖVP Interior Minister Karner likes it or not!”, Luisser, the FPÖ regional councilor responsible for foreign affairs in Lower Austria, made it unmistakably clear .
