NY- Fox News said Wednesday that an on-screen news headline referring to President Joe Biden as “wannabe dictator” was immediately deleted and the matter was “addressed.”
The headline appeared Tuesday night under two parallel videos: one featured the former president donald trump when he was speaking to supporters after his arrest, and in the other was Biden speaking at a prior event at the White House.
The full headline read: “Would-be dictator speaks at the White House after getting his political rival arrested.”
Fox issued a statement Wednesday saying that “the headline was taken off the air immediately and the matter was addressed.” He offered no explanation of how the issue was dealt with. The Mediaite website reported that the headline was on the air for 27 seconds.
The White House has emphasized that Biden has not had any contact with Attorney General Merrick Garland about the prosecution of Trump on charges of illegally withholding classified documents. Biden has not commented on the case.
Several Fox commentators and Republican politicians, however, have suggested that the prosecution is politically motivated, especially before the indictments were published.
Two months ago, Fox News agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems $787 million, as a result of a lawsuit that accused the television station of spreading lies about the 2020 presidential election.
