• Great Britain took the lead midway through the first period when Talia Davidson-Wright hit the crossbar after winning a shot (1:0).
• The other goals were scored in the second period. In the 27th minute, the rivals used their first majority, six minutes later Kjara Želubovska fixed the puck in front of the goal, but after another three minutes Great Britain was again thrown under the crossbar – 3:1.
• In the third period Latvia did not take advantage of the double majority and even the change of goalkeeper with the sixth player did not help.
• The Latvian Under-18 national team will therefore most likely lose their theoretical chances of finishing in first place already this evening, if their opponents China defeat Kazakhstan tomorrow.
• Želubovska, who scored Latvia’s only goal with a 2+2, is also the team’s top scorer in the tournament. 1+2 earned by defender Emilija Yakovleva. Goalkeeper Nikola Seleviča kept the goal in all four matches.
• A year ago, the Latvian U18 national team was second behind Australia in Division IIA, while Great Britain, defeated 3:2 in the bullpen, was fourth.
