SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- A new deportation flight arrived in Cuba this Thursday with a group of Cuban irregular migrants from the United States.
According to a note from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), this is the fourth air deportation carried out this year. The flight that arrived this Thursday at the “José Martí” international airport carried a total of 47 Cuban citizens.
Seven of them, according to the MININT, had arrived in the United States by sea. The rest had left Cuba legally and then joined “irregular routes” and moved to the United States border.
Three of the deported people had committed “serious criminal acts” on the Island and were under investigation, according to the official note.
In total, 32 repatriation operations have been carried out from different countries and there are already 476 people deported in 2024.
Also this Thursday, some 52 Cuban irregular migrants were returned to the Island.
The Cubans arrived through the Port of Orozco in Bahía Honda, Artemisa, and were transported by the US Coast Guard.
A report from the Cuban News Agency indicated that there were 45 men, six women and one minor., four years old, who had left the country illegally by sea and were subsequently intercepted.
The majority of those repatriated came from Matanzas, indicated the MININT. Four of them were on parole. for compliance with criminal sanctions at the time of leaving the Island, and would be “made available to the corresponding courts for the revocation of said benefits,” the Cuban ministerial authorities specified.
