In Wuppertal, a German city in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, several students were injured in an incident, believed to be a knife attack. One suspect has been arrested, a police spokesperson in Düsseldorf said. The police and fire brigade are on site en masse. Four people are said to have been injured. The suspect was also injured, according to the spokesperson.

Police say the incidents took place in a high school in the Elberfeld district. A contact point for parents was set up. Police say no shots were fired during the incident.
The perpetrator is a seventeen-year-old boy who attacked the students, said Herbert Reul, Minister of the Interior in the state. The perpetrator is said to have acted alone. It is not clear what his motive is.
News reports show that the young people hid in classrooms. The special units are also on site.
