Agents of the National Police, within the framework of the so-called ‘Operation Verja’, have arrested four people in Algeciras and Barbate (Cádiz) as suspected perpetrators of the crimes possession and distribution of a large amount of child pornography files.
As indicated by the National Police, computer equipment, desktop computers, laptops and mass data storage devices were seized in the operation, in which more than 9,000 child pornography files“there are still thousands of files to be analyzed and some of these videos stand out for their extreme harshness.”
The agents, after requesting the court orders, proceeded to carry out the entry and search procedures, executing three home searchestwo of them in the town of Algeciras and one in Barbate.
The investigation began in April 2023 by the Technological Crimes Group of the Judicial Police Brigade of the Algeciras Police Station, which requested the support of the Central Cybercrime Unit of the General Judicial Police Station to begin investigations into the alleged authors, who were dedicating themselves to downloading this type of material and sharing it through their own reserved communication channels.
Once the necessary evidence was obtained and the investigation began, the agents proceeded to carry out the entry and search procedures, where several addresses from where the perpetrators carried out these activities were verified.
After verifying the identity of the residents and identifying the perpetrators, in the month of May 2023, a home in the town of Algeciras was entered and searched, where one of its residents, a 41-year-old man, was detained. of age who had numerous computer equipment seized and approximately 421 files of child pornographic content.
However, continuing with the investigations, at the end of December, within the same operation, a second entry procedure and search of a home in the town of Algeciras, in which two male brothers, aged 23 and 27, respectively, were arrested, and numerous computer equipment and approximately 174 files of child pornographic content.
The National Police concluded the operation this April, when they located a third home in the town of Barbate from which pedophile material was being distributed.
Thus, after several months of investigation, the investigators managed to fully identify and locate the person under investigation who was carrying out these crimes, so a search was carried out. third entry and registration procedureproceeding to the arrest of a 55-year-old man, from whom numerous computer equipment and approximately 7,500 files of child pornographic content.
