Au Chadthe former opponent Succès Masra was appointed prime minister this Monday 1 January 2024 by decree of the head of state of the transition, Mahamat Idriss Déby.
The announcement was made by the secretary general of the presidency, Mahamat Ahmat Alhabo, on the midday news of the Chadian public television Onama.
Its future government will have the mission of organizing elections to end the transition – opened in April 2021 following the death of former president Idriss Déby – by October 2024. The government, led by the president of the Les Transformateurs party, will have to particular to establish the Angel, the electoral authority provided for by the Constitution and develop an electoral law.

Success Masra returned to Chad on November 3 after a year of exile, following the deadly violence of October 20, 2022. He had reached an agreement with the authorities, under the guidance of the Congolese facilitation in Kinshasa.
The successful Masra thus replaces Saleh Kebzabo, who resigned on Friday after organizing and obtaining a large victory for the “yes” in the constitutional referendum on 17 December 2023: 85.90% against 14.10%, with a participation rate of 63 %.
