Last season, Mario Gonzalez scored non-stop at Den Dreef. He scored no less than fifteen goals in 24 games for the OHL, but the club subsequently failed to sign him permanently from Sporting Braga. This paid off for the 27-year-old Spaniard in the summer.
Gonzalez has had a rough six months in Los Angeles
Los Angeles FC paid at least 3 million euros to bring Gonzalez to the MLS, but he has failed to settle well in the United States in the last six months. He quickly lost his starting place at LAFC and ultimately didn’t score more than one goal in twelve games.
Gonzalez wants to start again and The voice of Asturias mentions Belgian interest. Of course many clubs in the Jupiler Pro League will still know him. However, Gonzalez is still in good standing at many clubs.
Lots of competition for Belgian clubs
There is also talk of competition from the Netherlands, Portugal and the Spanish second division teams Real Valladolid, Burgos and Sporting Gijon. The latter club in particular would push for the arrival of Gonzalez.
The striker continues to have a very nomadic career. In the past he also played for Villarreal, Clermont, Tondela, Braga and Tenerife, but never stayed anywhere for long.
