Graziano, who is considered one of the leading officers of the army, had previously undertaken duties in different international missions involving the Italian army in Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq. Graziano, who served as the Commander of the Italian Land Forces between 2011 and 2015, was the Chief of General Staff between 2015 and 2018. Graziano served as chairman of the EU Military Committee between 2018 and 2022. Graziano had been president of the Italian state company Fincantieri, which produces cruise ships and military ships, since 2022.
