A few days before the official ceremony of joining Zagori to Unesco, a group of residents from Dilofo had filed a series of concerns about their village and requested a series of interventions for the settlement.
Almost a month later, they come back pointing out that not the slightest action has been taken, with the result that the traditional and preserved settlement remains sidelined.
“…without cultural and traditional events, without municipal lighting which for months we have pointed out in writing to the Municipality of Zagori without result, without care in the common areas as for example in the image of the entrance of the village which exudes abandonment…” mention features.
The residents come back to the cutting of the plane tree in the middle of the village, the village square, the collapse of the Anagnostopouleio School, the non-maintenance of the traditional fountain located in the “Paliabelo” location, the absence of maintenance and cleaning of the traditional cobblestones.
“The Municipality of Zagori still does not have a Department of Civil Protection and there is no planning in case of emergency or environmental disaster. There is no information about the care and preservation of the environment by visitors” they emphasize in their new intervention.
In conclusion, they note that one visit to the village, especially at night, but also to other settlements of Zagori is enough to record and highlight the problems.
