Forest Fire in Bingöl Taken Under Control

The forest fire that broke out in the area between Çamlıyurt and Soğukpınar villages of Genç district of BINGÖL was brought under control and extinguished with the 8-hour intervention of the teams.

A fire broke out in the area between Çamlıyurt and Soğukpınar villages of Genç district at around 17:30 yesterday for an unknown reason. While the fire quickly grew due to the wind, the Forest Management Directorate, Provincial Special Administration, fire department, gendarmerie and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. The fire was brought under control and extinguished at around 01:30 with the 8-hour intervention of 4 water trucks, 2 first response vehicles, 2 water tankers belonging to the institutions, 3 fire trucks belonging to Genç Municipality Fire Department, 5 construction machines from the Provincial Special Administration and 40 Forest Management Provincial Directorate personnel. Cooling work was carried out in the area throughout the night. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.

GOVERNOR MASTER: THIS YEAR’S BIGGEST FIRE

Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta stated in a statement on his social media account that the fire was extinguished before it reached residential areas, and said, “The forest fire that started at around 17:30 yesterday evening in the Çamlıyurt and Soğukpınar villages of Genç district was brought under control at around 01:30 tonight and cooling efforts were carried out throughout the night. I would like to thank all our heroes, especially our Bingöl Forestry Organization, Bingöl AFAD Organization and Bingöl and Genç Municipalities fire department teams, who extinguished the fire, which will go down in records as the largest fire of this year, before it reached residential areas.”
