Forest Entry Permit Scheme in Bilecik

Bilecik Governor Şefik Aygöl said that from June 5 until October 31, entrances to forest areas throughout Bilecik can be made with the permission of the Governorship.

Governor Aygöl inspected the Vezirhan Forest Fire Response Station with Bursa Forest Regional Director Erdal Şahan, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Senior Colonel Ferdi Erbakıcı, Provincial Police Chief Hakan Yılmaz and Bilecik Forest Operations Manager Onur Vahdettin Akbulut.

Aygöl underlined that they want to experience a fire-free period.

Reminding that 57 percent of Bilecik is forested, Aygöl said:

“Forest fires are important for us. Last year, an area of approximately 25 hectares was damaged in 22 forest fires in our city. With the decision we took, it was banned from lighting fires and picnicking in forested areas as of June 5 until October 31. Entrance to these areas will be subject to the permission of the Governorship. A significant part of the fires were caused by stubble fires after harvest. We decided that it is mandatory for combine harvesters to have water tankers when they harvest. Our main goal is to protect our green homeland and “It will be to protect our forests, which are the green neck of our country.”

Stating that 829 personnel were assigned to fight against fire, Aygöl said, “A fire extinguishing helicopter is ready in Vezirhan town. UAV started to work at Yenişehir Airport. It started to work in terms of detecting early forest fires and we will use it effectively in the fight against forest fires.” he stated.
