With a total budget of 75 billion BIF, the General Census of Population, Housing, Agriculture and Livestock was initiated by the Government of Burundi through the National Institute of Statistics of Burundi (INSBU). Established by Decree No. 100/109 of November 30, 2020, the RGPHAE, this major statistical operation coupling the General Census of Population and Housing (RGPH) with the General Census of Agriculture and Livestock (RGAE) has been postponed many times due to lack of resources. The general population census which will begin on August 16, 2024 will be the fourth in the history of Burundi. It was carried out manually in the years 1979, 1990 and during the recent year of 2008, but this time, it will be digitalized.
