“What will we eat tomorrow?” from March 14th
St.Pölten (OTS) – The 13th edition of the Dürnstein symposium organized by the Society for Research Promotion Lower Austria is dedicated to the topic of future food security in the Prelate Hall of Dürnstein Abbey from Thursday, March 14th to Saturday, March 16th under the title “What will we eat tomorrow?” .
International experts from a wide range of research areas discuss important questions about the future of our nutrition in a national and international context, such as how globalization and climate change are changing our resources, how safe our food is and what role ethical considerations play in nutritional issues. Thematic focus is on soil and water resources as the basis of our diet, but also the transformation of agriculture, the food trade, our purchasing behavior and ethical aspects of nutrition.
Speakers include Gunther Hirschfelder, Professor of Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Regensburg, Christina Kottnig, Chairwoman of the Slow Food Austria Initiative, Sofia Monsalve, Secretary General of the international human rights organization FIAN in Geneva, Josef Settele, Head of the Department of Conservation Biology & Social-Ecological Systems at the Matin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, the biologist Michael Succow, Prof. em. the Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald, and the Austrian food trend researcher Hanni Rützler.
