Food Scandal Threatening Public Health in Muğla

While a major food scandal threatening public health was taking place in the Ortaca district of Muğla, Ortaca Municipality police teams destroyed approximately 1 ton of food products that were not stored under appropriate conditions as a result of the operation they carried out upon receiving a tip.

According to the statement made by Ortaca Municipality, a great danger was prevented thanks to the attention of a citizen. The police teams who received the report took action quickly and arrived at the scene. After reaching the owner of the vehicle in which the food products were transported, the necessary investigations were initiated. In the investigations, it was determined that the food products in the vehicle were stored in inappropriate conditions. As a result of the investigation carried out by the police teams, it was revealed that 945 kilos of sausage, 250 liters of olive oil and 2 cans of white cheese that were returned after the sale were stored in unhealthy conditions in the vehicle. It was determined that there were worm-infested products in the vehicle and that the olive oils were not stored at the appropriate temperature.

Food was destroyed

The Ortaca Municipality’s statement emphasized the importance of rapid and effective intervention in such cases. Authorities stated that such situations that threaten public health are taken seriously and that municipal police teams immediately call a garbage truck to destroy unhealthy products. – MUĞLA
