The “iconic connection” between London City Airport and Antwerp reopened at the beginning of 2023. Due to a staff shortage at the Luxembourg airline Luxair, the route will be canceled again from June. Deurne airport confirms this.

Several stakeholders around the airport called the restart in January last year “a milestone”, both for tourism and business. Ari Epstein, then chairman of the Antwerp World Diamond Center, was present at the restart. “For those who want to travel from England to Europe, this is the fastest and most pleasant way to get around,” it said at the reopening.

However, airline Luxair is currently unable to find enough pilots and other staff to continue flying to London. The pilots who are available must then undergo training again to learn to work with the new aircraft. It is not clear if and when the line will reopen.
